Training course for All India Service Officers inaugurated at ICAR-IISWC

A training course for All India Service Officers was inaugurated at ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Dehradun on 21st Sep. 2015.

Shri S Ramasamy, Principal Secretary (Agriculture and Higher Education), Government of Uttarakhand in his address as Chief Guest, highlighted the importance of having plans for water management, particularly to improve agriculture. He stated that water management is important to reduce erosion problems which are common in Hill States like Uttarakhand. Shri  Ramasamy, called for the incorporation of scientific knowledge and modern techniques like micro-irrigation particularly in high value crops for better agriculture production.

Dr Sanjeev Chopra, Joint Secretary (Agriculture Cooperation) and Mission Director, PMKSY, New Delhi narrated the origin of this training course with the involvement of inter-ministerial departments and multi-locational

Dr Vinod Kumar, Director, IGNFA, Dehardun said that water often being responsible for both development and devastation like landslides and floods, need categorical management.

Dr NK Sharma, In-charge Director, IISWC, Dehradun welcoming the participants and dignitaries briefed the activities and achievements of IISWC.

The training manual of the program was released was realeased during the event.

This  is fourth in the series of 6 courses being organised under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY) by the Ministry of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.

21 participants of IAS and IFS officers from 7 northern States, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh participated in the training.

The training conclude on 24th Sep. 2015.
