The delegation of the Clean Plant Programme visited ICAR-Central Citrus Research Institute, Nagpur today.
The team comprised of Shri C.P. Gandhi, Deputy Director, National Horticulture Board (NHB), Ministry of Agriculture & Farmer’s Welfare; Ms. Sunae Kim, Natural Resources and Agriculture Specialist, Asian Development Bank (ADB); Sh. Krishna Rautela, Associate Project Officer, ADB; Shri Sunil Kumar, Senior Horticulture Officer, NHB; and Shri Chirag Bhatia, Consultant, MIDH.
The delegation interacted with different stakeholders associated with citrus crops including private citrus nursery owners, officials from the State Department of Agriculture, Govt. of Maharashtra and scientists of ICAR-CCRI Nagpur.
Dr Dilip Ghosh, Director, ICAR-CCRI emphasized on production and distribution of disease-free planting materials of Citrus crops through transfer of technologies, particularly licensing the technology of containerized nursery systems for different stakeholders for the production of disease-free planting materials through PPP mode.
Shri C.P. Gandhi emphasized the importance the of clean plant programme, its implementation in India and the different crops covered under the programme.
Shri Sunae Kim stressed the role of stakeholders in the clean plant programme and also briefed on the successful implementation of CCP in USA and Netherlands, etc.
Shri Devesh Shukla, Business Head, VNR Nursery explained the various facilities and production of planting materials at VNR nursery.
The team visited the ICAR-CCRI nursery and various experimental blocks of ICAR-CCRI.
