Foundation Course for Faculty of Agricultural Universities (FOCFAU) organized at ICAR- NAARM

The ICAR- National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad organized a 21 days’ course on “Foundation Course for Faculty of Agricultural Universities (FOCFAU)” during 1st to 21st December 2022 in online mode.

The objectives of the Training Programme were to orient the participants to the national and international agricultural scenario, to enhance knowledge, skills and attitude (KSA) of the participants in various aspects of education, teaching-learning process and to expose the participants to research and technology transfer processes. Sessions were also conducted on human capital, administrative and financial management for the newly joined faculty of State Agricultural Universities.

Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR – NAARM spoke about the challenges that Indian agriculture is facing such as the repercussions of climate change, land degradation, land fragmentation etc. and also threw light on addressing these challenges in the present context.

Dr. Srinivasa Rao has sought the attention of the trainees on the challenges in Agricultural Education and advised them to become impactful teachers.

The course Directors (Dr. A Dhandhapani and Dr. Surya Rathore) briefed that this foundation course targeted at inculcation of knowledge and abilities among the budding faculty members to make them successful teachers, extension professionals and scientists. Such trainings are the need of the hour for the Agricultural Universities to have faculty members who can carry out three core functions of teaching, research and extension.

A total of 56 participants including 41 women faculty members attended the training programme representing Himachal Pradesh and Punjab.
