A three-member delegation from the Embassy of France, New Delhi visited ICAR-Central Arid Zone Research Institute, Jodhpur on 20 October 2022. The delegation consisted of Dr. Didier Raboisson, Attaché for scientific and academic cooperation, Mr. Baptiste Fondin, Project Manager, and Ms. Meenakshi Singh, Scientific Coordinator. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss future collaboration on agricultural research between India and France. The meeting was chaired by Director of the Institute, Dr. OP Yadav and was attended by Head of Divisions and other Scientists of the Institute. At the start of the meeting after welcome and brief introduction of participants, Dr. Yadav presented a brief overview on the research and developmental work being carried out by the institute.
During discussion several points for futuristic research collaborations were discussed which included research work on agrivoltaic system, digital soil mapping and hyperspectral application for quick and rapid assessment of soil resources over a large area and work on livestock and development of sustainable management of rangelands may be another good option for future collaboration. At the end, Annual Progress Report and other publication “Science Beyond Borders: Connecting the dots between India and France” were exchanged. The meeting ended with vote of thanks by Dr. PC Moharana.
