Dr. Bhupendra Nath Tripathi, Deputy Director General (Animal Science), ICAR visited the ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun, Medziphema today.
In his address, he applauded the Institute’s efforts in the establishment of conservation units and urged to establish more units in Arunachal Pradesh benefiting Mithun farmers. Dr. Tripathi also stressed collaborating with other ICAR institutes to develop technologies that reach Mithun farmers. The DDG emphasized on economic evaluation of meat and milk products of Mithun to augment farmers’ income.

The DDG inaugurated a fodder museum and demonstration plot in Mithun plot, Type-II residential quarters (4 Nos.) at ICAR-NRCM, Porba, Phek District, virtually inaugurated two Conservation and Propagation units of Mithun at Thevopishu, Phek District and Khonoma, Kohima District, Nagaland and handed over Mithun to farmers to introduce Mithun in Assam state. He also visited the Mithun farm, an exhibition unit where technologies were displayed and different laboratories of the institute.
The dignitaries released pen side urine-based pregnancy diagnosis kit, Preg-DM for Mithun developed by ICAR-CIRB and ICAR-NRCM and a compilation of publications of ICAR–NRCM.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. Girish Patil S., Director, ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Nagaland briefed about the Institute’s activities.
