Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare visits ICAR-NBFGR’s facility at Agatti Island, Lakshadweep

Ms. Shobha Karandlaje, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, visited the facility of ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow at Agatti Island, Lakshadweep today.

She appreciated the institute's “Learning with Working” model for native women islanders.

The ICAR-NBFGR is operating a Live Germplasm Resource Centre for marine ornamentals (fishes and invertebrates) at Agatti Island, Lakshadweep, with the funding support of the Centre for Marine Living Resources and Ecology (CMLRE), Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India.

The unit is attached to four Community aquaculture units, being worked by 46 women islanders of Lakshadweep, who underwent training at the NBFGR facility.
