Zonal Workshop-cum-training programme on production technology of pulse crops

atarijablepur-25102016ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Jodhpur organised a two-day Zonal Workshop-cum-training programme (24-25 October 2016) on Production Technology of Pulse Crops for 57 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) of Rajasthan and Gujarat states at ICAR-CAZRI, Jodhpur (Rajasthan).

Dr. S. K. Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Jodhpur in his introductory remarks elaborated the status of production of various pulse crops in India and stressed to fulfil the target of 24 million tonnes of pulses production by 2020 under shrinking cultivable land and climate change so that per capita availability of 52 grams of pulses per day can be achieved.  He also opined that the district specific packages for pulse production technology should be developed and disseminated to the farmers.

Dr. O. P. Yadav, Director, ICAR-CAZRI, Jodhpur Chief Guest of the programme emphasised that pulses are important source of protein in Indian diet and there is need to increase in productivity pulses to reduce malnutrition. Infrastructure development related to pulses, market development, crop specific and region specific issue need to be addressed by proper planning.

Dr. S. J. Singh Director RARI, Jaipur emphasised to reduce cost of cultivation to increase profit of the farmers. 

He also stressed on the farmers participatory seed production and increasing seed replacement rate in pulses
