ICAR- Central Research Institute for Jute and Allied Fibers, Kolkata, organised a 1-day Industry & Entrepreneurs Interaction with Primary Stakeholders on the Potentials of Jute and Allied Fibre Crops and Promotion of Jute Based products today.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Subrata Gupta, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Govt. of West Bengal, inaugrated the programme. He emphasised that jute and allied fiber crops are gaining importance due to their eco-friendliness for which farmers may get some extra remuneration from the Govt. shortly for cultivating these crops.
Dr. D. K. Yadava, Assistant Director General (Seed), ICAR, emphasised the importance of commercialization of agricultural technologies through Agrinnovate and their subsequent take up by the industry people to upscale these for the larger interest of the farming communities. Dr Yadav urged every stakeholder in this sector to work in unison towards the fulfillment of the Govt. of India's framed Sustainable Development Goals of the nation with special reference to the replacement of plastic with natural fiber products.
Dr. Gouranga Kar, Director, ICAR-CRIJAF, briefed the objective of the meeting.
An MoU was signed between the Institute and M/s Creative Pharm for the Commercialization of CRIJAF SONA & distribution of ICAR-CRIJAF developed Farm machinery and CRIJAF SONA powder to the farming communities during the programme.
About 250 participants including industry people, entrepreneurs, SHG members, farmers, farm women, scientists of the Institute, etc, participated in this programme.
