National Level Training under the National Food Security Mission

ICAR- National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering & Technology, Kolkata, organised a 3-day National Level Training on ‘Production and Retting technology of jute/mesta/ramie/sunnhemp includes other related aspects’ under Centrally Sponsored Scheme on National Food Security Mission, Commercial Crops was started here today.

The Chief Guest, Dr. N.C. Pan, Former Director, ICAR-NINFET, spoke about the importance of processing & value addition in jute and other natural fibres.

Dr. D.B. Shakyawar, Director, ICAR-NINFET, highlighted the technologies developed at the institute and urged the trainees to have more & more interaction with the scientists.

Dr. L.K. Nayak, Head & Coordinator of the programme, briefed about the training schedule.        

Recent advances in the process of jute & other natural fibre extraction & processing will be deliberated through lectures and practicals during the training.

About 15 officials from three jute growing states viz. West Bengal, Odisha and Meghalaya, participated in this training.
