A 1-day training program on production technology of medicinal and aromatic plants was organised today under the scheduled caste sub plan at ICAR- Directorate of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research, Anand.
Dr. Manish Das, Director, ICAR-DMAPR, Anand, emphasized the significance of herbal plants for primary healthcare and emphasized the need for commercial cultivation of selected medicinal plants (MAPs) to boost farmers' income and ensure resource conservation. He also suggested women farmers to start lucrative businesses in the herbal sector to boost the economy and livelihood.
Various lectures on the production technology of MAPs, Post-harvest management, and organic cultivation were covered in the program. Farmers also visited the technology demonstration block, herbal garden, field gene bank and essential oil distillation unit at the directorate. Farmers also interacted with the scientists of the directorate on various aspects of medicinal plants.
A total of 100 beneficiaries including 30 women beneficiaries participated in the training programme. Farm inputs were distributed to the farmers.
