5th -25th March 2024, New Delhi
ICAR-Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Institute, New Delhi, organized a 21-day online training programme on the Development of AI-based Android Applications in Agriculture from 05th -25th March 2024 under the aegis of Centre of Advance Faculty Training in Agricultural Statistics and Computer Applications. This training programme aimed to upgrade the professional capabilities of scientists/teaching faculties of ICAR institutes and Agricultural Universities by providing the know-how to the participants on the development of Android-based mobile applications. This training programme offered sufficient knowledge to the participants on designing and developing Android mobile apps, Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) techniques and how to integrate these ML & DL-based models into the Android app.
The Chief Guest of the valedictory session Dr. R.C. Agrawal, emphasized that food and nutrition requirements can only be met through science, technology and innovation.
Dr. Rajender Parsad, Director, ICAR-IASRI urged the participants to sensitize other colleagues to Artificial intelligence and asked the participants to popularize the Artificial Intelligence-based Disease Identification System for Crops (AI-DISC) mobile app. He also requested the Deputy Director General (Agricultural Education) to include the AI-DISC mobile App in the Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE) programme. Dr. Parsad urged the participants to submit a roadmap of AI and digital Agriculture for 2027.
During the programme the participants learned about various tools and technologies with practical aspects.
A total of 35 scientists/teaching faculties from ICAR Institutes/Agricultural Universities of diverse backgrounds participated in the training programme.
