Empowering Livelihoods through Beekeeping in Border-fringe Village

To raise awareness about bee protection and encourage positive societal change towards bees, while recognizing their role in food security and livelihood enhancement, Nimpith Ramkrishna Ashram Krishi Vigyan Kendra (RAKVK), in collaboration with 32 Bn BSF, Nadia KVK, and ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata, organized a training session on ‘Beekeeping for Improved Pollination and Additional Farm Income,’ along with an input distribution program today. The event was sponsored by ICAR-Indian Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology, Ranchi.
Dr Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata, highlighted the essential role of bees in pollinating key plants for food security and called for youth involvement in their protection. He urged the need for action against the threats bees face and urged collective engagement to make a lasting difference.
The experts provided hands-on training and 50 honeybee boxes were also distributed to farmers belonging to the Scheduled Caste.
Dr C.K. Mondal, Head, Nimpith RAKVK coordinated the programme.
A total of 100 participants including farmers, BSF personnel, rural youth, and Panchayat members attended the event.
