Field Day on Integrated Farming System

ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ribhoi, successfully organized a field day on Integrated Farming System (IFS) at Thadnongiaw village, Ribhoi district, under the National Innovations in Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) Technology Demonstration Component (TDC). The event aimed to promote sustainable farming practices and improve livelihood security, with 21 women farmers actively participating.
Experts from KVK demonstrated the benefits of IFS, which integrates crop production, livestock, horticulture, and fisheries. Key advantages highlighted included improved soil fertility, better water management, reduced input costs, and increased farm income. The women farmers showed particular interest in the integration of poultry and fishery with vegetable cultivation, learning efficient resource utilization, waste management, and diversification for climate resilience.
This initiative underscores the importance of women’s participation in agriculture and their role in adopting innovative farming techniques. KVK Ribhoi plans to continue such programs to empower farmers and promote sustainable agricultural practices across the district.
