A field day was organized by ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dimapur, as part of the Cluster Frontline Demonstration (CFLD) on oilseeds, to showcase the TS-38 Toria variety. The event took place today at the farm of beneficiary farmer Shri Melon Munda.
TS-38, a high-yielding variety of toria, is known for its impressive qualities, including 40-45% oil content, early maturity (120-130 days), yield potential of 2-3 tons per hectare, disease resistance, and adaptability to various soils and climates. These characteristics make it an excellent choice for boosting oilseed production, improving farmer profitability, and promoting sustainable agriculture.
Farmers at the event witnessed the crop’s exceptional performance and discussed its potential to transform oilseed farming in the region. Shri Melon Munda expressed confidence in TS-38’s ability to deliver higher returns. The field day emphasized the importance of adopting improved varieties and practices to boost agricultural productivity and profitability.
About 20 farmers participated in the programme.
