Fish Swad 2025: A Vibrant Celebration of India’s Fish Cuisine

Fish Swad 2025, held at the Fisheries University Lawns in Andheri (West), Mumbai, drew approximately 1,500 attendees for a lively culinary celebration. Organized by the ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, the event highlighted the rich diversity of India’s fish-based cuisines.
The Chief Guest, Dr Raghavendra Bhatt, Deputy Director General (Animal Science), ICAR, inaugurated the event.
Dr J.K. Jena, Deputy Director General of Fisheries Science (ICAR), and Dr B.K. Behera, Chief Executive of NFDB, attended the event as the Guests of honor.
Dr Ravishankar, Director/Vice Chancellor, ICAR-CIFE and Dr N.P. Sahu, Joint Director, ICAR-CIFE, was also present during the programme.
The success of Fish Swad 2025 was driven by key sponsors and partners, including PMMSY, ICAR, SBI, NFDB, MPEDA, and the Indian Fisheries Association, who supported sustainable fisheries and ensured smooth execution.
The event featured a diverse range of authentic fish dishes from across India, showcasing regional flavors and traditional cooking techniques while emphasizing the importance of fish in India’s diet and economy. Participants enjoyed signature dishes from nearly every state, from Andhra Pradesh’s spiciness to Maharashtra’s coastal specialties.
Fish Swad 2025 not only celebrated India’s rich fish cuisine but also highlighted the cultural and economic significance of fish, promoting sustainable fishing practices.
