A high-profile stakeholder meeting was called by Shri Rajesh Pandey, IAS, Principal Secretary MSME&T to interact with the scientists of ICAR-National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering and Technology today at the Shilpa Sadan, Kolkata.
Shri Pandey emphasized on commercializing of these technologies, inviting proposals from the textile industry for sustainable jute-based diversified apparel knitwear, and dress material. He also urged inviting representatives from industries, State Govt officers, and scientists of the institute to develop future strategies for setting up the manufacturing of garments from jute and jute blended yarns.
Dr D. B. Shakyawar, Director, ICAR-NINFET, presented the woollenised jute yarn technology for knitwear and jute-cotton blended yarn for apparel men’s wear products. He also proposed the development of a road map jointly by MSME&T WB and ICAR-NINFET.
A detailed project report (DPR) along with the product profile will be developed by scientists of ICAR-NINFET and will be presented during the fourth stakeholders meeting. A marketing strategy will also be discussed in this line through the Govt of West Bengal marketing agencies like Biswa-Bangla, Tantuja etc.
