The participants of the 80th Know India Programme, Ministry of External Affairs, Govt of India, visited ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, here today. The delegation included 40 delegates of Indian origin from 12 countries.
Dr Ch Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-IARI, briefed about the overall scenario of Indian Agriculture, the present and future challenges, and efforts being made to overcome the climate change impacts.
Dr C. Viswanathan, Joint Director (Research), ICAR-IARI made a brief presentation about the achievements of ICAR-IARI.
The delegates discussed the sunflower, rice, sugar, tea, diversification, risk management, cooperatives, food security, GM crops and genome editing, fast-growing urban population and strategies of agriculture, etc. They expressed their interest in collaboration in different fields of Agriculture.
The delegation visited the Nanaji Deshmukh Plant Phenomics Centre, Integrated Farming System Model, and Center for Protected Cultivation Technology Center of ICAR-IARI.
