HRD programme on Scientific Agri-Horticultural Practices to Augment the Income from Small Scale Farming Organised

29th – 31st January 2025, Kolkata

A 3-day Human Resource Development Programme on ‘Scientific Agri-Horticultural Practices to augment the income from small scale farming’ was organised by the Directorate of Research, Extension & Farms of West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences (WBUAFS), Kolkata in collaboration with ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata for Senior Scientist, SMS, and other technical staff from KVKs of West Bengal.

 

The Chief Guest Swami Shivapurnanda Maharaj, Assistant Administrative Head, School of Agriculture and Rural Development, Narendrapur, RKMVERI, lauded the organizers for their efforts in orchestrating this pivotal HRD event for KVK Scientists and underscored the significance of such initiatives in shaping the future of rural development. 

Dr T. K. Datta, Vice-Chancellor, WBUAFS, emphasized the need for augmenting farm income through integrated and environmentally sound agri-horticultural systems.

 

 

Dr T.K. Mondal, former Vice-Chancellor, WBUAFS, spoke about the importance of such programme in order to improve the knowledge base of KVK personnel.

Dr Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata delivered the valedictory address on ‘Design Thinking’, emphasizing the importance of technology dissemination and farmer-centric innovations. He highlighted the need to align modern techniques with traditional knowledge, fostering sustainable development pathways that bridge scientific advancements with time-tested wisdom.

Dr. Keshab Chandra Dhara, Deputy Director (Farms), WBUAFS coordinated the programme.

A total of 32 participants of KVKs from Zone-V, actively participated in the interactive session.
