ICAR-Indian Sugarcane Research Institute, celebrated its 74th Foundation Day today here today.
The Chief Guest, Dr A.K. Singh, Vice-Chancellor, CSAUA&T, Kanpur was the Chief Guest on this occasion, while Dr Sanjay Singh, Director General, Uttar Pradesh Council of Agricultural Research, Lucknow, and Dr A.D. Pathak, Former Director, ICAR-ISRI, Lucknow were the Guests of honor.

Dr A.K. Singh, lauded the institute’s outstanding contributions that have culminated in high sugarcane and sugar production and briefed the promotion of Sugar beet along with sugarcane in tropical India that would help as a feedstock to achieve the target of 20% EBP of Govt. of India.
Dr A.D. Pathak, exhorted the students to take the knowledge gained to the stakeholders.

Dr R. Viswanathan, Director, ICAR- ISRI, emphasized the institute's accomplishments, including the release of two sugarcane varieties by PM Modi. He discussed the development of new machinery and advanced technologies at ISRI, as well as the institute's patents, copyrights, and collaborations with various organizations focused on sugarcane and sugar beet. Dr Viswanathan also highlighted outreach programs, breeder seed production efforts in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, the organization of several events at ISRI, and the numerous awards and accolades the institute has received.
Various MoUs were inked with the leading hospitals for cashless treatment of the staff. To commemorate this occasion, a Foundation day lecture on the topic ‘How to run IKSHU-Cane sugarcane model for estimation of sugarcane growth and yield’ was delivered followed by the launch of the IKSHU-Cane (Integrated Knowledge System for Sugarcane Harvest Output) model on ISRI website. The model has been jointly developed by ICAR-ISRI, Lucknow, and ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute for predicting sugarcane growth and yield, assessing the impact of edapho-climatic factors on crop performance and simulation of sugar yield for early and mid to late harvesting sugarcane varieties grown in tropical and sub-tropical regions of the country.
