The team from ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun, Nagaland, organised a field visit to Dibbin Village on 25th February 2025. During the visit, over 80 Mithuns were vaccinated, tagged, and monitored for growth, with blood samples collected for further analysis. This initiative plays a vital role in understanding genetic growth and enhancing farmers' livelihoods.
On 26th February 2025, the team organized a Mithun Mela at Nafra, West Kameng District, Arunachal Pradesh providing a platform for knowledge exchange and community engagement.
Shri Dongru Siongju, Member of the Legislative Assembly, West Kameng district graced as the Chief Guest.
Farmers actively participated in discussions on scientific Mithun rearing practices, benefiting from expert insights. The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Bomdila, and all experts involved were acknowledged for their dedication and contributions toward promoting Mithun husbandry.
Farmers acknowledged the efforts of Shri Girish Patil S, Director, ICAR - NRC on Mithun, Nagaland for the support and assistance under the TSP scheme.
Institute along with ICAR-KVK West Kameng and AHVDD, GoAP also showcased its technologies and products through exhibition stalls. A policy paper on the Roadmap for Revitalising the Mithun sector in Arunachal Pradesh was also released.
Through collaborative efforts, ICAR-NRC on Mithun continues to promote scientific Mithun farming and support the rural farming community.
A total of 250 Mithun farmers participated and benefitted from the programme.
