Livelihood Enhancement Skill Development Programme Organized

An awareness-cum-input injection programme for livelihood security of poor and marginal farmers of the northeast region was organized by ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Assam, in collaboration with ICAR-Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research (IIWBR), Karnal, Haryana (NEH Component) on 14th February 2025, under the able guidance and visionary leadership of Dr Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-IARI.

 

The Chief Guest, Shri Rahul Suresh Javir (District Commissioner, Dhemaji), highlighted key issues such as the promotion of organic farming, the adoption of villages to transform them into model agricultural hubs, and the increased focus on animal husbandry and fisheries activities in upper Assam.

 

The event was followed by the distribution of farm inputs such as Maize hybrid seeds, summer vegetable seed kits, Insecticides, Fungicides, Vermicompost, FYM/Organic manure, Chemicals fertilizers (Urea, SSP, MOP and micronutrients), Lime for soil reclamation, Advanced Fish fingerlings, Piglets and Chicks for the promotion of intensive integrated farming system. 

The activities of registered farmers will be regularly monitored with required scientific guidance for better production and profit. On this occasion, various leaflets related to scientific farming were also released.

A total of 300 farmers benefitted from this farmer-scientist interaction programme.
