ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ri-Bhoi, ICAR (RC) for NEH Region, Umiam organized and celebrated the ‘Ginger Festival-cum-Awareness programme on Organic Ginger production’ today at Tyrso Village under ‘Krishi Swarna Samriddhi Week (KSSW)’ (17th to 21st March 2025) of ICAR- KVK Ri-Bhoi. The event aims to motivate, attract and retain agriculture by the Farmers, Farm Women and Rural Youths in the District to enhance income and improve livelihood.
Shri Kynjohlang Rangtong, MDC, Mawhati, along with other senior officials participated in the programme.

Shri Rangtong urged the farmers to cultivate organic ginger commercially and also expressed his concern about the control of soil degradation for the sustainability of soil and enhancement of crop productivity in the Mawhati area.
Dr Popiha Bordoloi, SMS (Soil Science), Organizing Secretary of the programme highlighted the programme KSSW and gave a Lecture on organic ginger cultivation in doubling farmers' Income.
An exhibition was organized as part of the Ginger Festival to showcase products from various Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs). The event featured six stalls displaying and selling a variety of ginger products, including processed ginger items and different ginger varieties.
Around 80 numbers of farmers, farm women and Rural Youths and about 15 numbers of officials from ICAR-KVK Ri-Bhoi, ICAR (RC) for NEHR, Umiam participated in the programme.
