Dr P. K. Chakrabarty, QRT Chairman; Dr Mohinder Singh, Member; Dr Mukesh Sehgal, Director, ICAR-NRIIPM, along with other senior officials visited ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sitapur-II today.
After the presentations on research, extension, and capacity-building activity carried out under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan scheme, a detailed discussion was held amongst the QRT team and Director, ICAR-NRIIPM; Scientists; collaborators, and progressive farmers of the nearby villages regarding the achievements of IPM in SCSP as well as Natural Farming.
Dr Sehgal briefed about the achievements and the ongoing activities of the institute.
Publications showcasing success stories of the SCSP scheme and natural farming were released. Following this, dignitaries and farmers visited Dafra Village for a demonstration of IPM activities in cucurbitaceous vegetables, which was appreciated by the QRT. They then proceeded to Kamua village in Sitapur for a Farmer-Scientist Interaction, where farmers discussed their experiences with natural farming and IPM.
The dignitaries also toured the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), including chickpea and wheat fields under natural farming, poultry, goat yards, and various farming practices. In Amrapur village, they visited natural farming-oriented wheat and chickpea fields, praising NRIIPM’s efforts in these areas.
A total of 204 farmers from adjacent villages and the host village participated in the programme.
