ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute organized a training-cum-distribution on Scientific Pig Farming under the AICRP on Pig (NEH head) in collaboration with ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema today in ICAR-KVK Dimapur.
In the inaugural address, Dr Mahak Singh, Senior Scientist (AR&G), Nagaland, urged the participants to go for large-scale farming, adopt pig breeding practices for multiplication and a sustainable farming livelihood improvement. He also apprised the farmers to adopt artificial insemination (AI) in pig farming which can lead to numerous benefits, including improved genetics, better herd health, and increased productivity.
At the end of the programme, piglets were distributed to the farmers.
Dr Amiya Ranjan Sahu, Dr Mahak Singh, and Dr Jyotish Barman coordinated the programme.
Overall arrangement during training and distribution was coordinated by Dr Ebibeni Ngullie, CTO (Animal Science), KVK-Dimapur.
A total of 52 participants from seven villages under the Niuland and Chumoukedima districts attended the programme.
