A 5-day training programme on Krishi Sakhis/Community Resource Persons (CRPs), designed under the Lushai National Farming Initiative (LNFI) of the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF), was inaugurated today at ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dhalai. The event, scheduled from April 22 to April 26, 2025, aims to empower grassroots-level community resource persons with practical knowledge and skills in sustainable and natural farming practices.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Smt. Swapna Das Paul, Member of Legislative Assembly, 46-Surma Constituency. She formally inaugurated the programme and emphasized the vital role of Krishi Sakhis in transforming rural agriculture and enhancing the livelihoods of women farmers.

Sri Nani Gopal Kar, Vice-Chairman, Salema Panchayat Samity, highlighted the importance of community-driven agricultural interventions for long-term rural development.
The event witnessed the presence of several notable dignitaries, including Dr. Uttam Saha, Joint Director, State Agricultural Research Station (SARS)
Each speaker offered insightful perspectives on the significance of natural farming, the empowerment of women through skill development, and the critical role of CRPs in facilitating knowledge dissemination at the village level.
The training includes sessions on natural farming practices, community mobilization, farm-based entrepreneurship, and field-level demonstrations.
The programme is expected to enhance the capacity of Krishi Sakhis and CRPs to act as effective change agents in promoting sustainable agriculture and resilient farming communities across the Dhalai district.
