The regional coconut nursery at ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (Additional), Nadia, under the ICAR- National Dairy Research Institute, Eastern Regional Station, Kalyani, has been officially certified by the Coconut Development Board following a comprehensive evaluation.
A delegation comprising Dr. Amiya Debnath, Deputy Director, CDB State Centre, Kolkata; Smt. Lidia Mochary, Assistant Director, Horticulture, Krishnanagar; and Smt. Sritoma Biswas, Development Officer, CDB, assessed over 25,000 coconut seedlings planted in September 2024. Upon verifying compliance with all prescribed quality standards, the nursery was awarded the certification.

The team commended the KVK scientists for their effective nursery management and dedication to producing high-quality planting materials.
This certification is a significant milestone for promoting coconut cultivation and crop diversification in Nadia district.
In the initial phase, certified seedlings will be distributed to selected farmers to encourage sustainable horticulture-based income generation. ICAR-KVK Nadia (Additional) continues its commitment to farmer empowerment through quality input supply, practical training, and adoption of advanced agricultural technologies under ICAR’s guidance.
