ICAR-DPR Hosts Brainstorming Session on Technology Commercialization

ICAR–Directorate of Poultry Research, Hyderabad, organized a Brainstorming Session on Technology Commercialization today, focusing on enhancing awareness and capacity in intellectual property rights (IPR) and technology transfer. 

A major highlight of the session was an engaging talk by Dr. Praveen Malik, CEO of Agrinnovate India Ltd., who underscored the crucial role of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in safeguarding agricultural innovations and facilitating their successful commercialization. He outlined different forms of IP protection and urged scientists to actively utilize these tools to drive innovation, enhance visibility, and ensure that research outcomes effectively reach and benefit the farming community.

Dr. S. S. Paul, Director (I/c), ICAR-DPR, chaired the session and stressed the growing relevance of strategic IP management in enhancing institutional impact and technology dissemination in agriculture.

The session covered critical aspects of the technology commercialization cycle, including concept development, technology overview, agri-tech transfer challenges, market opportunities, and Agrinnovate’s structured technology transfer process. Dr. Malik also highlighted strategies for developing effective public-private partnerships to scale innovations.

Around 25 participants, including scientific and technical staff of ICAR-DPR, actively engaged in the event, which served as a valuable platform to explore the intersection of research, innovation, and commercialization in the agricultural sector.
