Training workshop on “Applications of Single Molecule Real Time (SMRT) Sequencing and Bioinformatics Analysis”

A two day training workshop (25th - 26th July, 2017) on “Applications of Single Molecule Real Time (SMRT) Sequencing and Bioinformatics Analysis” is organised at ICAR- National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow in collaboration with Imperial Life Sciences Pvt Ltd, Gurugram India, & Pacifc Biosciences, California USA.

The workshop was aimed at enhance the capacity and knowledge of scientists, providing the latest information about SMRT sequencing technology, its application in various areas of genomic research and bioinformatics analysis thereof.

Dr Sudhir Raizada (ADG, Inland Fisheries), ICAR, in his inaugural address emphasised on use of latest technologies that can enhance the aquaculture production of the country.

Dr Kuldeep K Lal, Director, ICAR-NBFGR highlighted the importance of SMRT technology and its application in Fisheries research.

Ms. Camille Cyncynatus, Director Sales, Pacific Biosciences, South Asia, emphasized the importance of SMRT technology and various prospects of research that can be carried out on this platform.

 A total of 47 Scientist/Researchers attended the workshop, which included 39 from ICAR and 8 from universities and ICMR institutes.
