Training-cum-Awareness Workshop on Journal Discovery through J-Gate@CeRA for Southern region

15th December 2017, Kochi

ICAR-Directorate of Knowledge Management in Agriculture, Informatics publishing Ltd. (J-Gate) and ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) jointly organized a one-day training-cum awareness workshop for Librarians and Nodal Officers of CeRA of ICAR Institutes and SAUs of the southern region at CMFRI, Kochi.

Dr. S. K. Singh, Project Director, ICAR-DKMA, said CeRA, the digital knowledge consortium, would help upscale the existing R&D information resource base of ICAR research institutions and agricultural universities. He briefed the role of CeRA in improving Research Productivity and pointed out the need for integrated resource management for fulfilling future research needs. He also emphasised on creating awareness among stakeholders for better utilization of the facility.

Shri S.K. Joshi, Incharge  CeRA said consortia mode of journal subscription and electronic information services through CeRA, will help in saving resources by avoiding duplication in journal subscription under the National Agricultural Research System.

Dr. G. Maheswarudu, Director-in-charge and Head Crustacean Fisheries Division, CMFRI in his presidential address proposed to utilize the digital knowledge resources effectively by the new-generation researchers.

Smt Jyothy from Informatics Publishing Ltd., elaborated on the various modules in J-Gate@CeRA and its advanced features for the benefit of the participants.

Thirty participants representing ICAR Institutes and SAUs from the  states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala attended the workshop in addition to the Research Scholars from CMFRI.
