Training Programme on High Density Plantation in Temperate Fruit Crops

A Seven-day Training Programme on High Density Plantation in Temperate Fruit Crops was organized bICAR-Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture, Srinagar (J&K) during 17-23 April 2018 for Officers of Department of Horticulture, Himachal Pradesh.

The main objective of the training was to demonstrate and impart the skill in high density plantation in temperate fruit crops among the horticulture officers/extension functionaries for speedy adoption and dissemination of high density plantations in Himachal Pradesh. Besides field visits/demonstration of different kinds of high density plantation systems, techniques of  training and pruning in high density plantation, methods to construct energy architectural engineering structures and rootstock varietal combination was also imparted. The participants also visited high density orchards established at different locations of Jammu and Kashmir. The trainees were also exposed and demonstrated advanced production technologies especially high density plantations in apple developed at ICAR-CITH, Srinagar. 

About 19 officials (Horticulture Development Officers and Subject Matter Specialists) from Department of Horticulture, Himachal Pradesh participated in the programme. The training was sponsored by Directorate of Horticulture, Government of Himachal Pradesh.
