ICAR-NIANP, Bengaluru organizes Winter School

The ICAR sponsored Winter School on “Climate change led biotic and abiotic stress in farm animals and amelioration using nutritional and physiological approaches” (1-21 November 2018) organized by ICAR-National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Bangalore was inaugurated on 1^ST November – 2018.

The 21-day Winter School was inaugurated by Dr. Khub Singh, Founder Director, ICAR-NIANP. He emphasized that the climate change is a serious challenge in Indian context and warrants region and need based ameliorative measures for facing the stress in farm animals induced by climatic change.  Dr Singh also released the technical compendium

Dr. Raghavendra Bhatta, Director, ICAR-NIANP opined about the inevitable impact of climate change and urged to be prepared to deal with the negative consequences arising thereafter.

The course comprised of comprehensive topics on: Climate change - status and implications, Adverse effect on livestock production in the form of abiotic and biotic stresses, Physiology and biochemical aspects of stress in farm animals, etc., along with a total of 40 in-house lectures, 8 guest lectures and 13 practical / demonstrations.

The Chief Guest of the valedictory function, Dr. H.D. Narayanaswamy, Vice-Chancellor, KVAFSU, Bidar, urged the need for greater collaboration with well-equipped laboratories and ICAR institutes for productive research output.

The programme registered an enrollment by 21 participants covering 11 states.
