Short Course on "Assessment of Vulnerability and Adaptation to Climate Change in Agriculture"

ICAR-sponsored 10 day-long Short Course on "Assessment of vulnerability and adaptation to climate change in agriculture" was inaugurated at ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad on 28^th November 2018.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Anthony Whitbread, Research Program Director, Innovation Systems for Drylands, International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), Hyderabad, emphasized on the need for enabling the farmers for adopting the climate smart practices that can help in minimizing the impacts of climate change and variability and also stressed on the need to collaborate among different stakeholders including private sector for scaling out the climate smart agricultural practices and in creating climate resilient villages.

Dr. G. Ravindra Chary, Director-in-charge, ICAR-CRIDA spoke on the need for developing the context specific vulnerability analyses and adaptation options and outlined the role of NICRA in the larger context of NMSA and NAPCC.

Dr. CA. Rama Rao, Course-Director, outlined the objectives and curriculum of the short course. Scientists of ICAR-CRIDA registered their participation in the inaugural session.

The short course has registered a total participation by 21 participants from ICAR institutes and State Agricultural Universities across 11 states of the country and 10 different disciplines.
