Model Training Course on “Advanced Engineering Training for management of Natural Resources in Watershed

Eight-day Model Training Course on “Advanced engineering training for management of natural resources in watershed” is being organized by the ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil & Water Conservation, Research Centre, Udhagamandalam from 27^th November to 04^th December - 2018 at IISWC Regional Centre.

Shri Sumesh Soman, IFS, District Forest Officer, Nilgiris Division inaugurated the training programme on 27^th November 2018. The function presided over by Dr. O.P.S. Khola, Head, IISWC Research Centre.

Dr. S. Manivannan, Principal Scientist and Course Director briefed about the training that the training is helpful in learning about the site selection and design of soil conservation structures, drainage line treatments, water harvesting and recharge structures, modern irrigation techniques, sustainable farm mechanization techniques, geo textiles for soil conservation, application of GIS and benchmark survey for watershed planning.

The training is sponsored by Directorate of Extension, Ministry of Agriculture,  Government of India.

The aim of the capacity building programme is to train the Field level Engineers / Officers working in soil and water conservation and watershed development programmes for upgrading their knowledge and skills in advanced engineering techniques for planning and implementation of watershed development projects.

The programme is being participated by about 20 Field Level Engineers and Officers from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Haryana, Odisha and Maharashtra.
