The Indian Institute of Oilseeds Research, Hyderabad under its TSP organized Niger Field Day at Genjigadda village Chintapalle, Vyzag, Andhra Pradesh on 22nd November - 2018.

The local tribal Sarpanch, Mrs. Sagimapalam appreciated the efforts and support by the local farmers.

A Technical Bulletin on “Bee Farming for increasing income of tribal farmers” (in Telugu language) prepared by RARS, Chintapalle was also released during the occasion.

Later, seed bins, bee hives and masks, sieves, tarpaulins, Wheel weeders, etc., were also distributed to the beneficiary farmers.

Dr. D.V. Ramana Reddy, ADR, RARS, Chintapally and team of scientists participated in the programme.

The progressive farmer, Shri Karunanidhi emphasized on the opportunity to further expand the Niger crop in the region.

The programme was participated by about 65 farmers and other officers.

The SPAC-TSP undertook FLDs on Niger at Anjoda village, Vyzag district, Andhra Pradesh on 23rd November - 2018

The programme was organized with local participation by M/s Sanjeevini Rural Development, an NGO involved in seed and biodiversity conservation at Aruku.

The demonstrations on improved variety KGN-2 vs local; line sowing vs broadcasting, etc., were organized during the programme.

The Progressive farmers Shri Neelakantam and others discussed the success stories of high yield realization in other crops with the suggested improved practices of Niger.

Around 250 farmers participated in the programme..
