The five day-long special National Training programme on “Advancement in Seed Testing for North Eastern Hill Region” organized by ICAR-Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre concluded on a successful note today. The programme sponsored by National Seed Research and Training Centre, Department of Agriculture Cooperation & Farmers Welfare, Varanasi was organized from 3rd to 7th December - 2018.
The Chief Guest, Shri Ksh. Bhabananda Singh, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha opined on the need for implementing a policy for utilization of paddy fallows for increasing farmer’s income as the agricultural GDP is decreasing .at an alarming rate.
The President of the function, Shri N. Prakash, Director of ICAR Research Complex for North Eastern Hills Region put forth the fact that the region is still lacking good quality seeds for agriculture.
Dr. Arvind N. Kumar Singh, Director, National Seed Research and Training Centre, Varanasi applauded the centre’s efforts of organizing such good training programmes.
Dr. I. Meghachandra Singh, Course Director and Joint Director, ICAR, Manipur Centre briefed the essence of trainings in NEH Region as it lacks good quality seeds control systems.
During the valedictory function, Prof. L. Nabachandra Singh, HOD of Agronomy, College of Agriculture urged the trainees for utilizing the knowledge gained through programme.
In a total of 32 officials from different regions and one from Delhi attended the programme.
