Certificate Course on “Soil and Water Conservation and Watershed Management” at ICAR-IISWC, Dehradun concludes

The ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil & Water Conservation, Dehradun organized the Passing out  the function of 119^th batch of 4 months “Certificate Course on Soil & Water Conservation & Watershed Management” today.

The four month programme was organized in the institute from 8^th October - 2018 to 7^th February - 2019 at the Institute’s Headquarters, Dehradun.

In his address, the Chief Guest, Shri Arun Singh Rawat, IFS, Director, FRI, Dehradun expressed his concerns on the importance and enormity of the problem of soil and water conservation in India. He also urged the 119th Batch’s Officer Trainees for addressing the issue with zeal and vigour to help the knowledge of the training percolate at the field level.

Shri A.S. Rawat felicitated the merit holders with merit certificates for their outstanding performance during the training.

During the occasion, Shri Ankit Kumar from Punjab bagged the overall merit certificate for his excellent performance and got awarded a merit for his performance in Soil and Water Conservation Engineering, Soil Management for Controlling Land Degradation and Local Project.

Shri Ankit Kumar and Ms. Shaminderjeet Kaur jointly bagged the merit certificate for Conservation Agronomy, while for Conservation Forestry Merit Certificate was jointly conferred to Shri Ankit Kumar and Ms. Seema. The merit holders for Integrated Watershed Management category were Shri Parminder Singh and Ms. Seema and Shri Ghulam Jeelani Zargar and Ms. Navpreet Rathore got felicitated with award for Study Tour.

In his address, Dr. P.R. Ojasvi, Director, ICAR-IISWC, Dehradun underlined the ICAR-IISWC’s brand value as a training organization. He urged the Officer Trainees for striking a balance between destruction and creation that are the two extremes of nature and help to strive for managing these two important natural resources.

Dr. Bankey Bihari, Head (HRD&SS) Division presented the overall training report of the four months Certificate Course. The training programme’s module comprised of 47 % practical and 53% theory.

During the feedback session, the participants  applauded the IISWC’s efforts for organizing such successful training programme. The participants also provided their valuable suggestions for improving the course in the due course of time.

A total of 25 Officers representing five states (Punjab-11; Jammu and Kashmir-6; Arunachal Pradesh-2; Madhya Pradesh-1; Uttarakhand-5) registered their participation in the programme.
