ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Ludhiana organized the Zonal Review Workshop of Farmer FIRST Programme (FFP) and Attracting and Retaining Youth in Agriculture (ARYA) for reviewing the activities conducted during the Year - 2018-19 under Zone - I.
In his remarks, Dr. R. Parshad, Former Assistant Director General (Agricultural Extension) accentuated on ensuring a mechanism to enable the selected beneficiary under FFP to carry the intervention after the project’s withdrawal. He also stressed on the involvement of farm families selected under the programme as active partners at every stage for improving the livelihood security in a sustainable way.
Dr. Rajbir Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI briefed about the implementation of 7 projects under FFP and 4 ARYA projects and upcoming 6 new ARYA centres in the Zone-I. He also accentuated on promoting the income generating activities, resource conservation technologies, diversification and intensification to double the farmers’ income. Dr. Singh also applauded the KVKs’ role in transforming the rural youth by developing entrepreneurship among them.
The technical and financial progress of the project was also presented by the Principal Investigators of 6 FFP centres and 4 ARYA centres of Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
The workshop registered a total participation by more than 100 delegates including PIs, Co-PIs, Heads of KVKs and entrepreneurs.
