ICAR-CIFT organizes Industry Interface Programme at Kochi

cift-1-02042019.jpgThe Zonal Technology Management - Agribusiness Incubation (ZTM-ABI) Centre, ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology organized an Industry Interface Programme at its campus in Cochin, Kerala today.

The Chief Guest, Shri Alex Ninan, President, Seafood Exporters Association of India (Kerala Region), lauded the ICAR-CIFT’s role in Indian fish export since the last 6 decades. Shri Ninan also urged the technological cooperation from the other research organizations for the holistic development of the sector.

The Guest of Honor, Shri Abraham J. Tharakan, Chairman, Amalgam Group of Companies urged the entrepreneurs to get benefited from the commercial technologies evolved by the ICAR’s various fisheries research institutes.

Earlier in his welcome address, Dr. Ravishankar C.N., Director, ICAR-CIFT emphasized on the importance of organizing the Industry Interface Programme that can prove to be helpful as a conduit for establishing positive relationship between the public and the private organizations.

The inaugural meeting also witnessed the exchange of agreements in connection with the two technology transfer assignments and one contract research project undertaken by ICAR-CIFT.

The In-Charge (ITMU) of 8 Fisheries Research Institutions under the ICAR namely, ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai; ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneswar; ICAR-CMFRI, Cochin; ICAR-NBFGR, Lucknow; ICAR-CIBA, Chennai; ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore; ICAR-DCFR, Bhimtal including ICAR-CIFT, Cochin participated in the programme.

The programme was organized as a part of the business promotion drive designed for the fisheries sector for promoting the entrepreneurs with the help of latest R&D facilities and vast knowledge available with ICAR.

Around 70 participants representing fisheries industry, processors, exporters, brackishwater / freshwater aquaculture / fish farmers, ornamental fish breeders, cage-culturists, startups, entrepreneurs, private investors and Government agencies, etc., participated in the programme.
