International Training Programme on “Mechanization technologies for sustainable and profitable agriculture in African-Asian Region” concludes

ciae-01-10092019The International Training Programme on “Mechanization technologies for sustainable and profitable agriculture in African-Asian Region” organized by the ICAR-Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Bhopal under the theme “Agricultural Engineering Technologies for Enhancing Productivity and Profitability in Agriculture Sector” concluded today.

The programme jointly sponsored by the AARDO, New Delhi and Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, New Delhi was organized from 17th to 30th September, 2019.

The Chief Guest of the Valedictory Function, Dr. K.K. Singh, Member, Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (Natural Resource Management), New Delhi mentioned about the similarities among the agrarian communities of Asian and African countries. Underlining the existence of variety of agro-climatic and geographical regions in the country, Dr. Singh stated that almost all the technologies developed under the aegis of ICAR or NARS could be suitable for the stakeholders of one or the other countries.

The Guest of Honor of the occasion, Dr. A.K. Vyas, ADG (Human Resource Management), ICAR accentuated on the human resource’s importance in the development of any society or country. He stated that such training programmes would help the participants in improving their knowledge as well as skills. This would also lead to broaden their general perspective about the humanities, trade and cooperation.

Earlier, in his inaugural address on 17th September, 2019, Dr. M. Din, Director, ICAR-CIAE stressed on the need of small farm mechanization in member countries of AARDO in tune of India. He deliberated upon strength of India in the agricultural mechanization sector. Dr. Din also outlined about the development of many technologies by the ICAR-CIAE that are suitable for the small farm mechanization in AARDO Member countries.

During this 14-day training programme, the participants were imparted with the knowledge about Agricultural Mechanization including precision agriculture - manual, animal, power-operated and automated equipment, irrigation and drainage, processing and value addition and renewable energy, etc.

A total of 10 participants from 9 different Member countries of African-Asian Rural Development Organization (AARDO) attended the programme.
