The National Seed Project, University of Agricultural Sciences, Gandhi Krishi Vigyan Kendra (GKVK), Bengaluru has organized 25 day-long Training Programme on “Skill Development of Nursery Men/Gardener” for second batch as per the norms of Agriculture Skill Council of India.
Dr. S. Rajendra Prasad, Vice-Chancellor, University of Agricultural Sciences, GKVK, Bengaluru inaugurated the training programme at Dr. Babu Rajendra Prasad Convention Centre today. He appreciated the efforts of NSP in selecting the trainees from different states and emphasized on imparting the skill which help them in becoming successful entrepreneurs in future.
Earlier, Dr. K. Madhusudan, Special Officer (Seeds), National Seed Project, UAS, GKVK, Bengaluru briefed about the training programme’s objectives.
Dr. Vishnuvardhan, Associate Director of Research, University of Horticultural Sciences, Bengaluru emphasized on hands-on-training of various propagation techniques likes grafting, budding, air layering and tissue culture techniques during the training programme. He also mentioned about the availability of the allotted fields for practicing seed bed preparation, mulching, laying of drip irrigation, planting of seedlings, etc.
Dr. S. Mariappan, Deputy Marketing Manager, HIL (India) Ltd., Bengaluru urged the youths for acquiring the skills from the Skill Development Programme, a flagship programme of the Government of India to become entrepreneurs and contribute for the society.
The programme sponsored by Hindustan Insecticides Limited (HIL), a Government of India organization registered a total participation by 50 trainees from the various parts of the country.
