Zonal Workshop on NFSM-Pulses for KVKs of Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi organized

NFSM1Prof. B.R. Choudhary, Vice-Chancellor, Agricultural University, Jodhpur inaugurated the two-day Zonal Workshop-cum-Training on Pulses for Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi under the National Food Security Mission at the Agricultural University, Jodhpur today. The workshop will be organized till 8th November, 2019.

Prof. Choudhary highlighted the importance and contribution of local specific pulse crop - Moth Bean. He urged on strengthening the research on Moth bean. Prof. Choudhary also opined the ICAR to establish the ICAR-All India Coordinated Research Project Centre on Moth Bean in order to sustain the pulses production level, especially, in Rajasthan.

Dr. N.P. Singh, Director, ICAR-Indian Institute of Pulses Research (IIPR), Kanpur outlined revolutionization of the pulses production in the recent past. He also highlighted the major role played by the quality seeds in achieving the bumper production. Dr. Singh accentuated that the Minimum Support Price is to be reviewed by the Government from time-to-time.

Dr. S.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone - II, Jodhpur stressed on the factors like rainfall, soil status, production, productivity, research, climate change, etc., that play a major role in fluctuation of production in pulses. He also underlined about the carrying out of that out of Cluster Front Line Demonstrations by 574 KVKs out of 714 KVKs in the country. He also mentioned about 10 KVKs having the Seed Hubs in Zone - II.

Around 62 KVKs from Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi will be presenting their progress during the workshop.
