The ICAR-National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning (NBSS&LUP), Regional Centre, Jorhat organized a Launching Workshop in connection with a Project on “Land resource inventory of Arunachal Pradesh in large scale for agricultural land use planning using geospatial techniques” at Changlang today. The workshop was organized in collaboration with the Office of the Deputy Director, Agriculture, Changlang, Arunachal Pradesh.
The Chief Guest of the occasion, Shri R.K. Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Changlang District stated that the project would provide accurate database pertaining to the land use / land cover, particularly, the agricultural land in the state. He also emphasized that such project would help in achieving the target of doubling the farmers’ income by the Year - 2022.
Shri A.K. Purkayastha, Advisor & State Consultant, National Food Security Mission, Government of Arunachal Pradesh accentuated that the output of the project would lead to the classification of land resources of the state in to the different land capability classes.
Dr. P. Ray, Scientist, ICAR-NBSS&LUP, Regional Centre, Jorhat highlighted about the objective of the project to generate the land resource information of the entire state for the agricultural land use planning.
The main objective of the project assigned to the ICAR-NBSS&LUP by the Department of Agriculture, Government of Arunachal Pradesh is to generate the detailed land resource information of the state for the agriculture land use planning.
The senior officials of ICAR Institutes; Directorate of Agriculture, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Itanagar and different Districts of the State were present during the occasion.
