Zonal Review Meeting under Farmers’ FIRST Programme organized

The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Jodhpur, Rajasthan organized the “Zonal Review Meeting of Farmers’ FIRST Programme” on the major theme of integrating technologies and enriching knowledge today.

Dr. V.P. Chahal, ADG (Agricultural Extension), ICAR emphasized on the involvement of the ICAR Research Institutes and State Agricultural Universities selected under the Farmers’ FIRST Programme as part of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra Scheme. He stressed on changing the mindsets of the farm families selected under the programme. He urged to involve them as the active partners in the research mode, that is, technologies selection, assessment and application for improving the livelihood security in a sustainable way.

Dr. S.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI Jodhpur briefed about the FFP being implemented in the country and the major initiatives by the Government of India for doubling the farming community’s income during the next 5 years. Dr. Singh urged to implement the demand driven and need-based technological modules. He also stressed to promote the development and promotion of resource conservation technologies to monitoring system properties, diversification and intensification through establishing the need-based Integrated Farming System in the prevailing situation.

The meeting was aimed to review the progress of the sanctioned projects mainly on approach process, methodology and indicators, physical and financial progress and also to discuss the operationalization mechanism of the implementation under Farmers’ FIRST Programme for achieving the major goals and objectives.

A total of 30 Principal Investigators and Co-Principal Investigators from Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan States attended the meeting.
