The ICAR-National Research Centre on Yak, Institute Technology Management Unit, Dirang, West Kameng, Arunachal Pradesh organized a two-day Workshop on “Prospects of Commercialization of Yak Products” at Dirang from 14th to 15th February, 2020.
The Chief Guest, Shri Sunil Soni, Commandant, 30th Battalion, Sashastra Seem Bal, Dirang emphasized on showcasing the Yak products to narrow down the gap of their accessibility to wider range of consumers including tourists.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. T.P. Singh, In-charge, ITMU-cum-Organizing Secretary outlined the main objective of the workshop.
Dr. Vijay Paul, Principal Scientist, ICAR-NRC on Yak highlighted the Institute’s activities and technologies and their scope of commercialization and IP protection.
In his valedictory address, Dr. P. Chakravarty, Director, ICAR-NRC on Yak applauded the participants, resource persons and organizing committee for successful organization of the workshop.
The participants also visited the newly created training facility of Department of Textile & Handicrafts, Government of Arunachal Pradesh at Rama Camp, Dirang.
The workshop registered a total participation by 26 participants involving research scientists; officials of Department of Textile & Handicrafts; Government Polytechnic, Dirang; Horticulture Department; progressive Yak Farmers and local entrepreneurs.
The workshop was aimed to create the awareness among the scientists, research scholars, stakeholders, entrepreneurs, innovators and progressive farmers towards the commercialization of Yak products and protection of their relevant Intellectual Property.
