Library Workshop on “Citation index: An important tool for academic and research professionals” organized

The ICAR-National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering and Technology, Kolkata organized the Library Workshop on the theme entitled “Citation index: An important tool for academic and research professionals” today.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Binod Bihari Das, Former Chief Librarian, Jadavpur University, Kolkata regarded the workshop as highly valuable for the users’ awareness. He accentuated on the need for citation index and its essential requirements.

In his presentation of paper entitled “Application of bibliometric indicators for assessing scientific performance: Citation analysis and beyond”, Dr. N.C. Ghosh, Chief Librarian, Indian Institute of Management, Joka, Kolkata highlighted the history of citation index. Dr. Ghosh also mentioned about the important tools of citation index.

In his lecture on “An integrated approach to evaluate research performance”, Shri Jiban Krishna Pal, Scientific and Technical Professional, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata briefed about the calculation of citation index, logical propagation, growth and clusters of citations, etc.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. N.C. Pan, Director, ICAR-NINFET briefed about the theme of the workshop.

The Librarians from the ICAR-Research Institutes / Organizations, Colleges and Universities, Scientist, technical Officers and Administrative Staff of ICAR-NINFET participated in the workshop.
