6 - 7 March, 2020, Puttur, Karnataka
The ICAR-Directorate of Cashew Research, Puttur, Karnataka organized a two-day Training Programme on “Recent cashew cultivation practices and homestead valorization of cashew apple in the hill zone of Karnataka” at Neechadi village, Sagar Taluk, Shivamogga from 6th to 7th March, 2020.
The programme was organized in association with the Directorate of Cashew nut and Cocoa Development (DCCD), Kochi.
The Chief Guest, Shri Chandrasekhar, President, Cashew Growers’ Association, Tumari, Shivamogga highlighted the importance of cashew in the livelihood security of people in the hill zone of Karnataka.
Dr. M.G. Nayak, Director, ICAR-DCR highlighted the importance of ultra high density planting and the need for using the specific pruning responsive varieties to enhance the yield and productivity of cashew in the country. Dr. Nayak stressed on the need for proper utilization of cashew apples to enhance the farm income and employment generation.
A total of 152 farmers from the Sagar Taluk of Shivamogga District, Karnataka participated in the programme.
