Training-cum-Demonstration of Harvesting from Tall Oil Palms organized

iiopr-01-05052020.jpgThe ICAR-Indian Institute of Oil Palm Research, Pedavegi, Andhra Pradesh organized a Training-cum-Demonstration Programme of recommended aluminium poles and sickles to harvest bunches from tall oil palms for the farmers today.

Dr. R.K. Mathur, Director, ICAR-IIOPR highlighted the importance of right stage of harvesting, handling the bunch and transporting at right time to the processing factory.

Dr. G. Ravichandran, Principal Scientist, ICAR-IIOPR emphasized on the various measures like hand sanitation, wearing of face mask and social distance, etc., to be taken in order to prevent the spread of the deadliest COVID-19.

As a part of the awareness on prevention of COVID-19, the farmers were distributed the face masks. The farmers were also provided with the aluminium poles attached with sickles under the Farmers’ FIRST Programme of ICAR for overcoming the problem of harvesting of oil palm bunches from tall palms.
