Skill Training Programme on “Gardener” organized

anand-01-2020The Directorate of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research, Anand, Gujarat under the Central Sector Scheme (CSS) organized 25 day-long “Skill Training Programme on Gardener (AGR/Q0801) for 25 Unemployed Youths” from 12th October to 5th November, 2020.

In his inaugural address, Dr. A.M. Sheikh, Former Vice-Chancellor, Anand Agricultural University, Anand, Gujarat emphasized on the need of organizing such programmes for employment generation in the wake of outbreak of COVID-19 situation.

Dr. S. Roy, Director, ICAR-DMAPR, Anand, Gujarat highlighted the importance of horticultural plants, especially, the ornamentals and gardening. He also accentuated on the scope of gardening business in the era of urbanization for greater benefit to the society.

More than 58 topics, viz.,  gardening types, basic landscaping, designs for the beautification of gardens, soil decontamination, nursery management, propagation, protection, nutrient management, training, pruning, rose and rock gardening, etc., were covered during the programme.

A total of 25 participants from 8 different Districts of Gujarat participated in the programme.
