ICAR Director General visits IISR, Calicut, Kerala

Dr. S Ayyappan, DG, ICAR & Secretary, DARE visited the Indian Institute of Spices Research, Calicut on Saturday, 30th April. He appreciated the ongoing research programmes of the Institute .

He also advised the young scientists to take up challenges in the field of agricultural research. “The Institute should also take initiative for expert consultancy in areas of germplasm conservation and value addition of spice crops,” he added.

He also lent an ear to the problems of scientists, technical and supporting staff, research fellows and administrative staff. He also held a discussion with the scientists regarding the progress of various research activities and their goal for the XII th plan.

Dr. V A Parthasarathy, Director of the Institute welcomed the gathering. Dr. M Anandaraj, Project Coordinator and Heads of various divisions also spoke.He visited the Library, Bioinformatics Centre, and various labs. Having a look at the working of Arisoft, the office automation software, he complimented the efforts of Director and staff in making IISR a paperless office.

Before coming to IISR campus, he visited the Experimental farm and Krishi Vigyan Kendra of IISR at Peruvannamuzhi 65 km from Calicut. He also spent time in the experimental fields in the farm and various demonstration units at KVK.
