Dr. P. Chandra Sekhara, Director General, MANAGE, Hyderabad inaugurated a Collaborative Virtual Training Programme on “NUTRISMART FISH to boost the Nutritional Security of the Rural Women” jointly organized by the ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore, Kolkata and MANAGE, Hyderabad from 10th to 12th August, 2021. In his address, Dr. Sekhara stated about the nutritional security and the importance of extension activities to achieve it.

In his address, Dr. B K Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore emphasized on the nutrition-rich food fish and its role in food and nutritional security.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. Shahaji Phand, Assistant Director, Centre for Extension in Agri-allied Sector, MANAGE, Hyderabad.
The three-day training programme consisted of the various topics covering the key aspects of nutritional security like Assessment of nutritional needs, Importance of nutritional intervention during Pre-Natal and Post-Natal stage (1,000 days) to improve Childhood development; Common nutrient deficiency disorders in women and preventive measures, Fish as health food; Orientation on “Nutri-smart” fish species, etc.
The training programme registered participation by 135 participants.
